The latest guest to join Steve Healey for a coffee and chat is Brisbane’s treasure and one of Australia’s leading businesswomen specialising in media and communications, Lady Jane Edwards.
Jane is Chairman and Chief Executive of BBS Communications Group and has served on a number of business and government boards including Deputy Chair of Opera Queensland, Director of the Queensland State Museum, and Lord Mayor’s Business Advisory Board, just to name a few. She is also the Honorary Consul for France in Queensland, and in 2022 received France’s highest honour, La legion d’honneur for her ongoing services to the French community.
In their chat, Jane shares with Steve her professional journey in journalism and media, and fondly recollects her experience in helping to put Brisbane on the world stage through her involvement with Expo 88. Coming across to the Expo Authority after Jane’s move to Brisbane from Canberra, Jane was excited to join the project as Media Manager initially, but that role quickly evolved and she was tasked with leading the development and implementation of the global communications strategy, which Jane successfully delivered with a team of 75 staff and a $35 million budget.
It was after Expo 88 and once the Expo authority had closed down that Janes saw the opportunity to introduce a new offering for businesses in the communications space and founded BBS Communications Group. The longevity that BBS has seen makes Jane most proud, as she shares her insights into the constant growth and agility of the business and where it is today.
As the momentum and planning for the next major event to again showcase the city of Brisbane, the 2032 Olympic Games picks up pace, tune in for this insightful chat between Steve and Jane to hear more on the proposed plan for Brisbane City to not only accommodate the Olympic games, but also for the city to thrive and enjoy for many years that follow.
