On Friday 13 May, Special Olympics Australia held their 2016 "Go For Gold" 9th Annual Sports Lunch to help raise money to provide quality sports programs that transform the lives of people with an intellectual disability.

RSM in Canberra were again proud to support such an important initiative and lucky to spend some time with guest speaker Laurie Lawrence, legendary Australian Swim Coach. Laurie entertained the crowd and at one point had the 120 people in attendance on their feet singing but also inspired them with his work in the now famous, Lawrence Learn to Swim School which specialises in teaching physically disabled as well as speech and hearing impaired Children.

In 1988 to combat drowning, Laurie Lawrence also created the Kids Alive – Do the Five water safety program. The Kids Alive community service program continues to educates the public on five important steps to reduce the risk of preschool drowning.
