Life in Regional Australia is an extraordinary journey, and we're thrilled to have you on board as a valued member of our local community.

With the approaching end of the financial year, it's time to gear up and plan for your upcoming tax and superannuation obligations. The dedicated team at RSM is here to support you every step of the way. We have curated a wealth of insights, updates, and local news to help you face the new financial year with confidence.

This year has been one of significant growth and achievement for RSM Australia. We are proud to announce that we have won the Client Choice Awards for 2024, marking our sixth consecutive year of receiving this honour.

Furthermore, we are delighted to introduce our new in-house economist, Devika Shivadekar. Devika has been diligently monitoring key macroeconomic indicators and has had the pleasure of visiting many RSM offices across Australia to share her insights, including regional areas such as Moora in Western Australia and Toowoomba in Queensland.

Our national growth continues with our national staff numbers surpassing 1,800 and our ranking in the AFR soaring to #7. Additionally, we have bolstered our suite of services in Data & Analytics, Cyber Security, and dedicated ESG Consulting, further solidifying our commitment to providing comprehensive and cutting-edge solutions.

We are committed to nurturing regional industries to enhance capability and capacity, especially in our manufacturing and agricultural sectors.

We co-hosted an Industry Networking Breakfast event in partnership with Business NSW and the Industry Capability Network (ICN), with a presentation to increase awareness of major projects and highlighting key future opportunities of interest to our local enterprises. The event also included a presentation from ISO Matters and discussion on the importance of delivering effective safety management systems.

We also continued our commitment and investment in exploring the adoption of emerging technologies and trends for clients with Principal Ross Dixon’s attendance at the Australian Manufacturing Week Expo in Sydney, while Director Jason Croker and Manager Scott Watson travelled abroad to New Zealand to gain an insight into the future of agri finance at the Figured Leaders in Agri Finance Summit. Director Peter Nicol and Senior Accountant Lumina Yin from our Albury office also shared topical insights and highlighted RSM’s services for medical professionals at the Business for Doctors conference in Sydney.

We were also involved in community events and sponsorships, as well as collaborating with our local universities and secondary schools to provide information about career opportunities with RSM and to encourage involvement in our undergraduate and graduate programs.

We hope you enjoy reading this newsletter and find the contents useful and informative. We look forward to working with you in the next financial year and beyond.

Best regards,

TEAM NEWS

RSM in Albury has been proud to donate 15 refurbished laptops to support disadvantaged children in our local community.

The laptops previously used for three years, had undergone an extensive restoration process ensuring their suitability to still be used and that they are in good working order. In presenting the laptops to Junction Support Services, Director Jason Croker said offering the laptops to the organisation was not only transforming children’s educational experience, but it also gives another use for the laptops instead of the devices potentially ending up in landfill. The donation of laptops provides a way to re-engage young people in the education system, strengthening their classroom inclusion and being able to connect with other training and employment pathways.

We recently celebrated our Senior Manager, Steven Banks, for his 20 years of accounting service in Australia since moving to Australia from the UK on completion of his studies. Steven started his career with O'Callaghan's before it merged with RSM Australia in 2009. He has shown dedication to his clients and has made significant contributions to developing systems and processes both in our office and nationally.

RSM was proud to honour our much-loved staff member Warren Jones at the Warren Jones Memorial Golf Day in April.

RSM in Albury was not only the major sponsor of the event, but two teams participated, teeing off in the day’s competition. Although our teams didn't break any records on the course, the event raised over $30,000 for the Cure Brain Cancer Foundation.

This cause is particularly meaningful as Warren passed away last year after being diagnosed with glioblastoma, an aggressive and incurable brain cancer.
