Matthew is a Senior Accountant in RSM’s Bunbury Business Advisory division, specialising in financial statement preparation, cash flow analysis, tax planning, and compliance. He is passionate about simplifying accounting processes for clients in the agribusiness and property sectors, ensuring they feel confident and informed.
Specialising in Agribusiness and the Property & Construction sectors, Matthew works closely with middle-market SMEs, regional SMEs, and high-net-worth individuals to provide expert advice and practical solutions. His areas of expertise include preparing financial statements on a monthly, quarterly, semi-annual, or annual basis, as well as offering cash flow preparation, budgeting, progress reviews, tax planning advice, and annual tax compliance. Matthew’s ability to simplify complex financial matters ensures his clients feel confident and informed about their business’s financial health.
Matthew’s career in accounting began with two internships in 2021, both being at Big 4 firms. His first role aligned with Business Advisory and another in Audit and Assurance. Following these experiences, he joined one of the Big 4 firms we worked for as a graduate, gaining valuable exposure to a variety of industries and financial challenges. In July 2022, Matthew transitioned to RSM in Bunbury to focus on supporting local businesses and individuals. Before entering the accounting profession, Matthew gained firsthand insights into the challenges of small business ownership through his family’s business, as well as through his roles in the hospitality and real estate industries. These experiences have shaped his empathetic and results-driven approach to client service.

A new client who had been dissatisfied with their previous accountant’s lack of communication and clarity engaged Matthew to assist with their financial needs. During their initial meeting, Matthew presented the client’s tax work and financial statements in a clear, step-by-step manner, ensuring they fully understood the processes and decisions involved. The client expressed gratitude for the enhanced communication and the straightforward way Matthew explained everything, leaving them reassured and confident about their financial direction.
