Gavin O'Neill is a Director in the Perth Tax Services division, specialising in corporate and international tax advisory and compliance.

Gavin has extensive experience in corporate and international tax, advising large corporate entities and multinational groups operating in Australia and internationally.

Having worked as both a trusted adviser and in a commercial tax role, Gavin offers a unique perspective that bridges the gap between technical expertise and practical application. His tenure in both advisory and commerce has been instrumental in shaping his holistic approach to tax challenges. 

Gavin thrives on solving complex problems and interpreting intricate tax legislation to provide meaningful, practical advice to clients. He enjoys collaborating with his team and clients to achieve successful outcomes, fostering strong relationships that drive long-term value.

Before joining RSM, Gavin held the role of Regional Tax Director (APAC) within the Group Tax team of a leading multinational headquartered in Switzerland. In this position, he directed tax projects across more than 20 countries in the Asia-Pacific region. Earlier in his tenure, he served as Tax Manager for the Australian and Papua New Guinea businesses, overseeing all corporate tax matters for these jurisdictions.

Prior to his commercial role, Gavin spent 10 years at a large mid-tier accounting firm, where he progressed from Graduate to Associate Director within the Corporate and International Tax Team. His time in both professional services and commerce has equipped him with a well-rounded understanding of the needs of both advisors and clients, enabling him to provide solutions that are both practical and technical.

Outside of work, Gavin has been an avid AFL fan and a passionate member of the Fremantle Dockers for over 20 years. When he’s not cycling or watching sports, Gavin enjoys spending time with his wife and two young children, family and friends.

• Assisted a multinational with a Bilateral Advance Pricing Arrangement (BAPA) involving the Australian Taxation Office (ATO) and a foreign tax authority. 
• Providing international corporate restructuring advice following a major foreign group acquisition, resulting in a streamlined and more tax-efficient group structure for the client.
