John McEwen is a Manager in the Wagga Wagga Business Advisory division.

With over 30 years of accounting experience in the Riverina region, John has developed an in-depth understanding of the unique challenges and opportunities faced by regional small to medium enterprises (SMEs).

His extensive career has equipped him with a nuanced perspective on the specific financial, operational, and regulatory hurdles that businesses in regional areas often encounter.His deep local knowledge and commitment to supporting the growth and success of regional businesses make him a trusted advisor for his clients.

John's career spans roles as an employee accountant, sole trader, and business owner/partner. John began his career as an Employee Accountant, a role he held from 1994 to 2006, before transitioning to operate as a Sole Trader Accountant from 2006 to 2012. He then became a Director and Partner in an accounting firm, a position he held from 2012 until 2023. In July 2023, John joined RSM following a merger and acquisition.

John specialises in providing a comprehensive range of accounting and business advisory services tailored to meet the needs of his clients. He has experience in preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, helping businesses maintain accurate and timely financial records. His expertise also includes cash flow management, budgeting, and conducting progress reviews to ensure businesses stay on track with their financial goals.

John is very skilled at giving practical advice and support for accounting software. He makes sure clients have the tools they need to manage their finances well. He provides tax planning advice and helps clients develop strategies to minimise their tax liabilities while remaining compliant with regulatory requirements.

Whether working with SMEs, sole traders, or larger corporations, John takes pride in delivering solutions that empower his clients to navigate financial challenges, grow their businesses, and achieve long-term success.

John finds motivation in the opportunity to make a positive difference for his clients. He enjoys building strong relationships and providing practical, timely guidance that helps clients navigate the tax landscape and meet their financial obligations with confidence.

Outside of work, John is a passionate fan of Rugby League and cricket. He also enjoys pub trivia nights, where he loves putting his general knowledge to the test in a fun and relaxed setting.
