Senior Manager - Sydney

Sophia Song is a Senior Manager of the Sydney Corporate Finance division, specialising in financial due diligence and IPO support. 

Sophia brings almost over 14 years of transaction services experience across Australia and China, specialising in Mergers and Acquisitions, and IPO support.  Sophia is also one of the members of the China Practice Group at RSM.  

Her expertise lies in helping businesses identify risks and opportunities during the IPO process, and offering insights that enable clients to make informed decisions for the proposed transactions.

Her experience extends to cross-border transactions, leveraging her knowledge of both Australian and Chinese markets to guide businesses through international mergers and acquisitions, and market entry strategies. Sophia's dual-market perspective allows her to address complex financial challenges with comprehensive, results-driven advice.

Sophia has worked with large corporate entities and middle-market SMEs, providing tailored advice that supports strategic growth and financial sustainability. One of her standout achievements was assisting a client in preparing for a successful IPO. Through detailed financial due diligence, she identified discrepancies in revenue recognition policies and recommended adjustments to align with reporting standards. This approach not only mitigated potential risks but also instilled confidence in investors, helping the client exceed their capital-raising goals.

Sophia began her career as an auditor in a Big 4 firm before joining the Transaction Services team at another Big 4 firm in Shanghai, where she spent nearly seven years honing her skills. She further developed her expertise during 3.5 years in the Corporate Finance team of another global accounting firm, specialising in financial due diligence and IPO support in Syndey.

Joining RSM in 2021, Sophia has continued to build her reputation as a trusted advisor, known for her ability to deliver clear, actionable insights that empower clients to navigate critical business moments successfully.

Sophia is passionate about building strong client relationships and seeing the direct impact of her work on a company’s ability to list on the ASX or execute successful transactions. She thrives on solving challenging financial problems and values the opportunity to continuously learn and grow. Her collaborative approach, combined with her technical expertise, ensures that clients feel supported and confident throughout their journey.

One of Sophia's proudest accomplishments is her work on cross-border transactions. By bridging the financial differences between Australia and China, she has helped clients overcome complex challenges and seize growth opportunities in international markets.

In her downtime, she enjoys swimming, reading, and watching TV series. Travelling to explore new countries and cultures is another of her passions, offering her inspiration and a fresh perspective.
