The National Greenhouse and Energy Reporting Scheme (NGERS) is managed by the Clean Energy Regulator.
NGERS requires that all businesses that meet a defined threshold must register with the scheme and report their activity each year. This generally applies to most businesses in manufacturing, production and power which generate substantial energy and emit significant greenhouse gases.
Understanding the reporting thresholds and how to gather sufficient data for your reporting can be difficult, which is why it’s beneficial to seek independent guidance from experts.
Reduce the risk of inaccurate reporting
All reporting carries some degree of risk due to factors such as human error, ineffective data collection, and inconsistent processes. This is especially true of emissions reporting, where it’s easy to miss certain emissions sources and data anomalies.
For this reason, audit is a key compliance and monitoring measure under the National Greenhouse and Energy Reporting Act.
RSM conducted one of the first NGER audits under the government audit program in 2009.
We have gone on to assist clients across all sectors in managing their NGER reporting obligations, including:
- consulting
- verification and assurance
- auditing
