John A Azzopardi

John, a qualified Trust and Estate Practitioner (TEP) and UK Chartered Tax Advisor (CTA), joined RSM in June 2013. John obtained his degree in Accounting and Finance and a Distinction in his International Finance Masters at the University of Leeds.

John has extensive knowledge and experience in the areas of local and international taxation, corporate restructuring and liquidations, and trust accounting and law.

John trained with Deloitte in the UK, working in their Private Client team before moving on to PwC UK where he developed his taxation and trust expertise and where he went on to head their National Trust Team.

Prior to returning to Gibraltar and joining RSM, John was involved in leading an on-site team at Credit Suisse's head offices in Zurich to set-up their new systems to deal with the UK/Swiss agreement over taxation of undeclared Swiss bank accounts.

John has since gone on to gather significant expertise in dealing with automatic exchanges of information agreements such as U.S. FATCA and the OECD's Common Reporting Standard.

John manages a wide range of local and international high net-worth individuals and corporates.  John has particular expertise in dealing with the Gibraltar insurance sector and with financial intermediaries.

John also heads our Fiduciary team dealing with trust and company management including the setting up of trust and corporate entities and their wider structures, directorships, secretarial services and liquidations and dissolutions.

John also sits on the Gibraltar Society of Accountants ('GSA') Tax Committee.
