Gold Associates. In 2024, AI-enabled smartphone shipments are projected to grow by over 360%, reaching 234.2 million units, or 19% of the total market. New phishing campaign attacking Amazon Web Services accounts A recent phishing campaign has been targeting Amazon Web Services (AWS) users, aiming to steal login credentials. The attackers send convincing emails that appear to be from AWS, urging recipients to click on malicious links or download attachments. Once users input their credentials, the attackers gain unauthorized access to their AWS accounts, which can lead to significant data breaches and financial losses. A recent lookalike search revealed numerous domains mimicking Amazon's login page. Although it's unclear if these domains are controlled by the same attacker, the use of a similar subdomain format and their connection to known phishing IPs strongly indicate malicious intent. DDoS attacks surge 46% in 2024: gaming and tech industries most targeted In the first half of 2024, DDoS attacks surged by 46% compared to the same period in 2023, with 830,000 attacks recorded. The peak attack power also increased slightly to 1.7 Tbps. The gaming and technology sectors were the most targeted, with gaming accounting for 49% of attacks. Financial services were particularly affected by application-layer attacks, which can severely disrupt operations. The majority of attacks were short, typically under 10 minutes, but even brief disruptions can have significant impacts. This increase underscores the need for robust security measures and constant vigilance against evolving cyber threats. |
