RSM (Mauritius) Consulting Ltd works collaboratively with Mario Hannelas & Associates Ltd to provide advice on issues relating to Personal Income Tax, Corporate Income Tax, VAT, and International Tax. Mario Hannelas & Associates Ltd has been set up by Mario Hannelas, FCCA and member of the Mauritius Institute of Professional Accountants (MIPA), who has more than 40 years of practical experience in Taxation. 

He has in the past occupied some senior positions as Chief Investigating Officer at the former income Tax Department, Deputy Commissioner of Income Tax, Commissioner of Large Taxpayers Department, Director of the Small and Medium Taxpayers Department and Director of Large Taxpayers & International Tax Department of the Mauritius Revenue Authority (MRA) and Technical Adviser to the Director-General of the MRA. From 2015 to 2022, Mario Hannelas was also the Head of the Tax Treaty negotiation team for Mauritius and represented the Country in the OECD BEPS Inclusive Framework, the Forum on Harmful Tax Practices (FHTP), the OECD Global Forum on Tax Transparency and Exchange of Information on Tax matters. 

For many years he has lectured in Business & International Taxation for various Universities (UOM, UTM & Open University of Mauritius) and the MRA Training Academy. He has written three tax training manuals for the benefit of tax auditors of the MRA on Income Tax Law & Practice, VAT and Tax Accounting and has contributed articles and papers for various technical journals.
