Our office was closed on 17 February, and this is why

RSM New Zealand (Auckland) closed their office and the team headed to Hobson West Marina, Auckland to board the fabulous Ipipiri for our annual team building experience.

A series of boat and land based team building activities from Risk Reward followed, where the higher the risk, the greater was the reward. Teams applied skills such as communication, trust building, strategy development and problem solving to ensure their “company” was the most profitable. On offer was “company money”. By negotiating and reaching agreement, the teams invested in a series of activities on the Corporate Challenge Stock Exchange. The objective was to increase the starting amount progressively over the day and create the most profitable company.

The teams were challenged physically and mentally. Results ranged from the victorious Taniwha’s $45,000 total to Team Trump promising (but not delivering) ‘greatness’,  to Fear Weather Trading’s woeful losing performance. Fresh eggs plummeted from great heights to land in nests made from drinking straws, match-box car traffic jams were negotiated, messages unscrambled, sling shots slung and winners and losers decided.

Trophies were presented to the winners and highlight the losers at the inaugural RSMmy awards held at the end of the day. The sun shone, we laughed a lot and concluded a very successful day with drinks on the return journey and dinner at Oyster and Chop. The Taniwha’s are still gloating!
