Corporate Governance is the process and structure by which the business and affairs of your organisation are directed and managed. It is essentially corporate behaviour.
The key objectives of good corporate governance are to contribute to:
- improving corporate accountability and transparency;
- enhancing corporate performance.
The SGX adopted the Singapore Code of Corporate Governance (The Code) in April 2001. The Code applies to Singapore listed companies having their AGMs beginning from 1 January 2003.
Companies are encouraged to follow the best practices suggested by the Code. Any non-compliance needs to be disclosed and explained in annual reports.
We can help close the corporate governance expectation gap vis-Ã -vis the Code by conducting a Corporate Governance Gap Assessment.
The assessment is a 3-stage exercise to:
- identify the current level of compliance;
- design priority action plans to address the gaps; and
- implement the action plans which are then continually fine-tuned.
