The Opportunity

We are looking for a passionate Data Analytics Specialist who will be responsible collecting and analyzing data across the business to make informed decisions and carrying out various tasks under the supervision of the Projects and Product Manager.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Statistics, Computer science, Data science, Business Information Systems, Business Intelligence & Data Analytics (or related technical/business field) from a recognized university.
  • Extensive knowledge and experience in the use of data analysis tools such as Alteryx, IDEA or ACL
  • Membership in a professional body, preferably ISACA.

Background and Experience

  • Minimum two (2) years of experience in the role of a data analyst officer/specialist, focus in data analytics, data extraction, data transformation, and scripting experience. 
  • Experience in process-oriented financial and commercial audits is an added advantage.
  • Proficiency in data analysis/mining and scripting languages including Python, R, and SQL.
  • Deep understanding of data and analytics technologies, including data warehousing, data integration and data visualization.

Skills and Competencies

  • Knowledge of information systems governance and control principles, frameworks, and practices with an understanding of the concept of risk management.
  • Experience in visual communication of analysis (e.g., Qlik Sense, QlikView, Power BI, or Tableau).
  • Knowledge of Continuous Auditing and Monitoring and Governance Risk and Compliance (GRC) tools implementation and/or use.
  • Good knowledge of key IT applications, application controls, and business processes.
  • Being a self-starter and able to work independently including across multiple priorities and complex matrixed roles and responsibilities.

Responsibilities

  • Explores, identifies, and acquires data sources to determine their suitability for risk assessments, audits, and investigations. 
  • Enables broader use of data sources by applying quality methods to structure, clean, format, parse, and standardize for analytical use.
  • Establishes a close working relationship with members of the Audit, Tax, Consulting teams and key clients to leverage analytical methods to support their assurance activities with solutions that assist them in accomplishing their mandates.
  • Designs and develops custom visualizations and presentations to reveal the findings of analysis for clients, suitable for all forms of production (including briefings, reports, documentation, interactive interfaces, and publication of quality outputs).
  • Participates in internal audits and investigations, assisting and performing tasks under the supervision of auditors and investigators, producing findings and reports within the stipulated timeline and quality requirements.
  • Develops and implements data analysis, data collection systems and other strategies that optimize statistical efficiency and quality.
  • Promotes the use of digital automation and analytics to improve the effectiveness of the internal processes. 
  • Uphold data integrity and confidentiality at all times
  • Share knowledge, skills, and experience with team members. 
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Outcomes

  • Achieving an annual productivity of at least 75%
  • Work as an effective team member to complete assigned tasks within the budgeted time and communicating the engagement progress to the Senior or Manager on a daily basis
  • Ensuring that analytical tasks on allocated sections are resolved within 24 hours or such other time as agreed with the Manager
  • Identifying client engagement issues and communicating these, as they arise, to the Manager
  • Effectively documenting work to performance standards ensuring not more than 5 review queries arise on the work done 
  • Actively developing technical skills on the job and through formal training and complying with the firm’s CPD requirements
  • Building working relationships with the internal and external clients
  • Demonstrate understanding of internal control concepts & frameworks
  • Deliver high quality analytics service to clients
  • Effective collaborative skills that contribute to positive working relationships with both internal and external stakeholders
