The Opportunity

We are looking for a passionate Internal Audit Manager to execute internal audit, transaction advisory and financial consulting services for our clients. Your responsibilities shall include planning, executing, directing, and completing internal audits, and being the team leader. The Internal Audit Manager will be reporting directly to the Director and will also be assisting him to prepare the necessary training material, in business development and support on administrative matters.The ideal candidate should  be eager to embrace the RSM culture and embody our values in everything he/she does.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Professional certifications such as Certified Internal Auditor (CIA), Certified Public Accountant (CPA), or equivalent.
  • Advanced degree (MBA or Master’s in Accounting) or CISA or Internal Audit certification would be added advantage.

Background and Experience

  • Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in internal auditing, with at least 3 years in a managerial role.
  • Demonstrated experience in risk assessment, internal controls, and compliance. Experience with audit methodologies, standards, and best practices.
  • Familiarity with various industries and the ability to adapt auditing approaches accordingly

Skills and Competencies

  • Ability to identify, assess, and mitigate risks. Knowledge of enterprise risk management (ERM) frameworks and techniques for evaluating and managing risks.
  • Understanding of local regulations and standards, such as those set by the National Board of Accountants and Auditors (NBAA) and relevant Tanzanian laws. Familiarity with global regulations and practices is also beneficial..
  • Knowledge of accounting principles, auditing standards, and financial reporting. Proficiency in IFRS and ISA 
  • Experience in designing, evaluating, and improving internal control systems to ensure they are effective and efficient.'
  • Skills in auditing IT systems, including understanding cybersecurity, data protection, and IT general controls could be an advantage

Responsibilities

  • Keeping abreast of changes in regulations, legislations and technical developments in areas of internal audit, transaction advisory and financial consulting.
  • Carrying out tasks which include:
    • Checking for any conflict on RSM inTrust at the proposal stage and before the firm accepts any engagements and ensuring RSM inTrust is updated where required.
    • Overseeing engagements or leading the field team on engagements which require the provision of opinions and undertaking research and handling engagements in the areas of internal audit, transaction advisory and financial consulting including structuring engagements.
    • Following up with applicable agencies on client issues including research material.
    • Being the liaison person on the engagement with the client including agreeing the engagement timeframe and logistics.
  • Performing administrative tasks (client delivery, billing and collection, productivity, staff mix etc.) to ensure the audit portfolio maintained is efficiently managed.
  • Maintaining the job planning schedule, scheduling staff to engagements and updating this on a weekly basis and ensuring that staff are supervised and occupied.
  • Maintaining the work-in-progress register for all engagements and reviewing this on a weekly basis with the Director.
  • Training and developing the skills of staff in the department, including preparing training material.
  • Developing market intelligence on potential projects, business opportunities and developments in the competition.
  • Providing economic input in the publication of tax bulletins and also publishing other newsletters on topical issues and organising client seminars.
  • Carrying out administrative duties and any other tasks as may be delegated from time-to-time

Outcomes

  • To be seen as a role model to the consulting team.
  • Providing management and supervision over a portfolio of clients and delivering high quality consulting services, including preparing and reviewing job planning schedules and ensuring adequate resourcing and timely achievement of each engagement.
  • Ensuring that review notes on allocated sections are resolved within 48 hours or such other time as agreed with the Director.
  • Compliance with Quality Assurance and Risk Containment Policies. 
  • Understanding the client needs, their business and key risks, meeting and exceeding expectations, adhering to reporting deadlines and adding value on each engagement. 
  • Supervising the team, reviewing working papers, provide coaching, ensuring conclusions are well-documented and ensuring that the file is ready for Director review.
  • Ensuring that the work is performed to the required standards 
  • Actively developing technical skills on the job and through formal training and complying with the firm’s CPD requirements. Coaching, training and contributing to development of consulting staff.
  • Communicating timely and developing a solid rapport with the clients to ensure that their expectations are understood and ensuring positive feedback is received on all engagements in terms of delivery and value addition.
  • Assist in identifying new business opportunities and establishing a robust marketing network to attract potential clients 
  • Assisting in the preparation of newsletters and organising client seminars and leading a session during the seminar, as required.
