What did you do before coming to RSM?
Before joining RSM, I worked for a professional service provider in the auditing department for five years. After my successful work efforts for three years, I received a promotion and became a job controller.
At that stage of my professional life, I was looking to enhance my knowledge and managerial skills. I was open to new challenges and projects that would give me the opportunity to meet new people and be engaged in various industries. I felt that the audit profession always had much more to offer than only auditing numbers. The interaction with people (clients and colleagues) was of major importance in our daily routine, which kept me excited.
Before applying, I researched RSM, and I really liked the Firm’s vision, beliefs and values. I was very interested in this position since I believed it would be very challenging and inspiring at the same time. Besides gaining knowledge, I would have the opportunity to form a team to share my values, way of thinking and practices.
What was your first impression of RSM?
From the interview discussion, I felt that the partners' values fully aligned with my own values. However, the most important fact that surprised me the most was the approach in my interview. It was not an outline process where an HR manager asks pre-formed questions. It was an actual conversation between parties that wanted to know more about each other professionally and personally. I felt I was a valuable person among people who listened and were interested in what I had to say. In addition to that, I felt that the environment would be friendly, and RSM would be very professional in its approach because I knew people from previous jobs who had already joined the RSM team.
One of the main reasons for joining was that there was a vision. As an audit manager, I would be able to share my knowledge and experience and build a very good audit team. It was a challenging opportunity that I did not want to miss.
On the first day, I felt very comfortable. I was surprised by the relationship between my colleagues and the partners/managers. The environment was friendly, and we faced issues together as a team.
What is the work/life balance like?
In RSM, I managed to achieve a work-life balance while keeping our clients' quality and service at high levels. In simple words, I am happy, and I like to go to work.
For me, it is important to work for a firm that takes the best of me and gives me the opportunity to be myself, both in my working and personal life.
"I thought that "The power of being understood" was referred to our clients. However, being in RSM made me realise that the power of being understood applies to all parties interacting with RSM, especially their employees."
I have completed four years now, and I always felt that my needs were understood, even if they did not relate directly to work.
Do you have any hobbies? What is the motivation and inspiration you receive from your hobbies?
I like going for a walk with family members and playing mini-football with friends. Walking helps me clear my mind, and it also allows me to spend time with the people I care about.
Playing mini-football gives me the chance to meet up with old friends. Physical activity helps me relax and provides me with the physiological energy to start the next day.
My hobbies remind me that it is important to enjoy life and have fun. The same should apply to our working environment.
