A Shared Services Center (SSC) is a management model that operates to provide services to other areas, business units, companies within the same corporate group, or regional offices.
The services offered by an SSC may correspond to activities that were previously carried out independently in each area, office, or company within a group, and are now consolidated to reduce costs, optimize processes, leverage synergies and capabilities, and generate value.
A Shared Services model allows for the unification, consolidation, standardization, and redesign of functions common to more than one business or company with the explicit goal of providing a higher level of service at an overall lower cost.
