Senior Advisor

Tim O’Connor joined the Consulting Team at RSM Ireland as a Senior Advisor in 2016. Tim has extensive experience at senior level, both in the public and private sectors and contributes greatly to RSM’s expanding multi-disciplinary Consulting Team led by partner Catherine Corcoran Gearty.

During a long career in the Irish public service, Tim worked in the Peace Process in Northern Ireland, served as Ireland’s Consul General to New York and was Secretary General to the President of Ireland.  Following his retirement from the public service in 2010, Tim has worked in various voluntary and professional capacities. He has served on the Board of, and as an adviser to, a range of Irish and international companies. He was Chairman of the Gathering Ireland Advisory Board in 2013 and Vice Chairman of Limerick National City of Culture 2014.  He was also Chairman of the Clinton Institute for American Studies at UCD from 2010-2015 and currently sits on the Board of Trustees of the Holocaust Education Trust of Ireland.  He was recently been nominated by the Irish Government to be their Representative on the 4-person Independent Reporting Commission, whose task is the promotion of the ending of paramilitarism in Northern Ireland.
