Jaime López is a partner at RSM and specialises in transfer pricing.
While overseeing his expert team, he advises local and multi-national clients on transfer pricing, domestic and international taxation.
Jaime has over 20 years of experience and expertise in inspections, negotiation of advanced pricing agreements (APA), mergers & acquisitions (M&A), and transfer pricing strategies. He is also skilled in analysing the transformation of the value chain and developing strategies for new business activities. Moreover, he is an expert in implementing contract manufacturing structures (maquila), distribution centres, shared service centres, commission agents and agents.
He has further expertise in valuing intellectual property, analysing cost-sharing and intragroup services, and fiscal, strategic tax planning and documentation policies. Furthermore, Jaime is proficient in analysing risk structures of permanent establishments, benchmarking/searching for comparables for analysis and dispute procedures, including inspections and international procedures to avoid double taxation. He is also proficient in the new BEPS environment, base erosion and profit shifting.
Jaime has led numerous projects, preparing cost-sharing services for clients headquartered in Spain, detailing costs to subsidiaries and preparing central transfer pricing documentation for Spanish groups. Jaime has also managed transfer pricing documentation for Spanish affiliates of German groups and multi-national groups headquartered in Belgium and Switzerland. In addition, he collaborated with RSM Brazil on a significant project related to a Spanish headquartered group.
Jaime develops close working relationships with his clients and ensures his availability. He takes a pragmatic approach and uses innovative ideas, creative thinking, and insight to solve clients’ current challenges and comply with the ever-increasing complexity of tax and transfer pricing rules worldwide.
Before joining RSM in 2019, Jaime was instrumental in creating and developing transfer pricing departments at EY and KPMG, Barcelona, having started his career at PwC Spain.
He lectures at ESADE, a prestigious European Business School and is a regular speaker at many seminars and conferences on international taxation and transfer pricing.
He holds a Degree in Law from the Universidad Autónoma de Barcelona, a Postgraduate Degree in Real Estate and Urban Planning Law from IDEC-Pompeu Fabra, a Master’s Degree in Tax Management from EAE and a Master’s Degree in Tax Consultancy and Management (AGT) from ESADE.
