In the extraordinary period of the last two years, the recovery of the Swiss labour market was marked in 2021. It is always necessary to constantly monitor and analyse the latest developments in the legal situation in order to be able to react to them in a timely and correct manner.

 

Current developments

Following the Federal Council's press release of 11 March, the necessity measures concerning unemployment insurance in the context of the coronavirus (COVID-19) have evolved.

Companies can request retroactive payments for compensation for reduced working hours for the years 2020 and 2021.

In concrete terms, this means that for all companies that have made statements of compensation for reduced working hours in 2020 and 2021 according to the summary procedure, the entitlement to compensation for reduced working hours will be re-examined by the unemployment funds upon request.

 

Action required

Companies will have to submit an application, probably by the end of May 2022, together with a detailed statement for each settlement period to calculate the additional holiday and public holiday pay for employees paid on a monthly basis.
