In the ‘Official Gazette of the Republic of North Macedonia’ no. 97/2020 from 09.04.2020 was published the Decree-law amending the Decree-law for financial support to the employers of the private sector affected by the health-economic crisis caused by COVID-19, for payment of the salary for April and May 2020.
With this Decree-law some conditions and restrictions that were previously prescribed in the Decree-law published in the Official Gazette 93/2020 from 07.04.2020.
The amendments to the Decree-law are the following:
Financial support for the payment of salaries can be used by (The Initial Decree exempted these persons):
- Owner/founder of the employer – applicant for the financial support, manager, procurator, that is represented by law and members of the managing and supervisory bodies of the employer – applicant for financial support.
For the use of financial support, the employer – applicant for financial support should fulfill the following obligation:
- The employer who used the financial support for payment of salaries is obliged to keep the same number of employees as he had in the month he requested financial support for payment of salaries, decreased by the number of employees due to retirement or death of a worker, two months after its termination (as of July 2020) ( Initial Decree: four months after its termination – as of September 2020).
Apart from these changes, everything else that was previously regulated - such as the conditions, manner, and procedure for the financial support to the employers of the private sector for payment of the salary for April and May 2020 remains unchanged.
This Decree-law shall enter into force on the day of its publication in the „Official Gazette of the Republic of North Macedonia“.
