Eric Mantelaers
Partner
Dr Eric Mantelaers joined RSM in 2010 and his career can be characterised by three terms: Technology, Control Practice, and Quality. Eric is a partner at the Center of Digital Innovation (CODI), where he helps improve the quality of accounting services through data-driven solutions.
Strongly linked to his preference for Professional Technology is his connection with a number of knowledge institutes, such as Zuyd University of Applied Sciences' Lectureship “Future-proof Auditor”. In 2022, Eric delivered his inaugural address as special lecturer of the ‘Future-proof Auditor’ lectureship, entitled ‘From historian to sensor - The Continuum Paradigm’,
Furthermore, Eric is affiliated with the accountancy programme at Maastricht University, and the Executive Program ‘Financial Forensic Expert’ (FFD) at Erasmus University (Rotterdam). He is also affiliated with the RC course at Anton de Kom University (Suriname). Eric holds a PhD from the Open University on the topic ‘Automating the Auditor’. His main interests include the Continuum Paradigm, Blockchain, AI, data science, Going concern assessment, Continuous Auditing and Audit Quality.
As Eric is convinced that the accountant of the future will need to have IT knowledge to a very large extent and be equipped to detect fraud, in recent years he has also invested in training to become a CISA (IT auditor), C|CISO (security officer) and CFE (fraud examiner).
