Eric Mantelaers

Partner

Dr. Eric Mantelaers has been with RSM since 2010. His career can be characterised by three key areas: technology, professional practice and quality. As a Partner within the Center of Digital Innovation (CODI), Eric focuses on improving the quality of audit services through data driven solutions and technology.

Closely linked to his passion for professional practice is his involvement with several academic and knowledge institutions, including the Future proof Auditor research group at Zuyd University of Applied Sciences. In 2022, Eric delivered his inaugural lecture as Professor of Applied Sciences within the Future proof Auditor research group, entitled From Historian to Sensor: The Continuum Paradigm.

Eric is also affiliated with the accountancy programme at Maastricht University and the Executive Program Financial Crime Professional (FCP) at Erasmus University Rotterdam. In addition, he is involved with the Master’s programme in Accountancy at Anton de Kom University of Suriname. Eric obtained his PhD from the Open University of the Netherlands with research on Automating the Auditor. His main areas of interest include the Continuum Paradigm, blockchain, AI, data science, going concern assessments, continuous auditing and audit quality.

Eric strongly believes that the auditor of the future will need extensive IT expertise and the skills to identify fraud. In recent years, he has therefore further developed his expertise through qualifications including CISA (IT Auditor), C|CISO (Security Officer) and CFE (Fraud Examiner).
