What did you do before coming to RSM Switzerland?

During my bachelor’s studies, I worked part-time for about six years in the accounting department of a scaffolding company. There, I gained my first valuable experience in financial and payroll accounting.

After completing my bachelor’s degree, I wanted to step out of my comfort zone and gain new perspectives, doing an internship at Porsche Holding in Salzburg. During this time, I realized that I didn’t want to spend my entire life where I grew up—at least not in my younger years.

As a result, I decided to pursue a master’s degree abroad. I chose Zurich, where I successfully completed my degree in 2019. During this time, I also spent a semester abroad in Brisbane, Australia.

After finishing my master’s degree, I started my professional career in Switzerland at Lidl Switzerland, working in controlling and finance. Following the completion of a trainee program there, I joined RSM Switzerland in January 2021.

Why did you choose to work at RSM Switzerland?

There are three aspects I particularly value about RSM Switzerland. As a relatively small company in Switzerland, RSM offers flat hierarchies and direct communication channels. Decisions can be made quickly without unnecessary intermediaries, fostering an efficient and transparent work culture.

RSM is a flexible employer that places great importance on the work-life balance of its employees. Especially in areas such as remote work and flexible working hours, the company is very accommodating. This adaptability allows me to balance my professional and personal life effectively.

“The global perspective and strong team spirit make working
at RSM particularly fulfilling.”

The work environment is characterized by excellent collaboration. Additionally, the international context at RSM is a significant asset. I frequently collaborate with colleagues from other countries, and cross-border cooperation runs smoothly.

What is it like working for a global organization?

The unique combination of local flexibility and global strength is what makes RSM special. In Switzerland, we operate in small, manageable structures that allow for efficient processes and direct communication. At the same time, we benefit from the vast network and strong international presence of RSM.

This sets us apart from both smaller or mid-sized competitors in Switzerland, who lack this global background, and the Big Four, where both local and global levels often involve more complex structures.
RSM offers the best of both worlds: local agility combined with a global network, making us unique in many ways and providing an excellent foundation for international collaboration.

What has been your favourite experience at RSM?

It’s hard to single out one specific experience as the best because there have been so many wonderful moments at RSM. However, I would like to highlight the regular audit training sessions, which are organized across Switzerland. These events are always a highlight as they bring together colleagues from Geneva and Zurich, strengthening our team spirit.

The locations for these trainings vary each year and are always special. In the first year, we were in Lausanne, followed by Istanbul, Marrakech, and this year, Alicante. These trips not only provide opportunities for professional growth but also strengthen the team and create unforgettable experiences.

Beyond these events, I also value the daily collaboration with my colleagues and clients. This continuous, positive interaction and mutual exchange make my work at RSM incredibly fulfilling.

What do you envision for the future of your career?

I view my professional future as a combination of personal growth and growth within the company. At RSM Switzerland, we aim to continue expanding—both within the network and in Switzerland itself.

For me personally, this means continuing to develop professionally and acquiring new skills. While I completed my auditor qualification last year, I see many other exciting areas where I can expand my knowledge and expertise.

My goal is to build on these experiences, continuously learn, and advance my career while contributing to the growth and success of RSM.

What would you say to anyone who might be considering a career at RSM?

I would definitely recommend a career at RSM Switzerland and highlight what sets RSM apart from other companies, especially the Big Four.

From my experience and conversations with former university classmates, I’ve noticed that turnover at the Big Four is often very high. Many seek a workplace that is not only more stable but also more personal. At RSM, the working conditions are much more balanced.

For example, in the audit field, RSM offers more varied work than many competitors. You gain deep insights into a wide range of industries and company areas, making the work more exciting and diverse. Additionally, RSM provides extensive support for professional development, such as the auditor qualification. This support includes covering costs and allowing flexible scheduling to facilitate learning.

Even in daily work, RSM ensures that employees are well-prepared for exams and can learn from their experiences with clients. Overall, working at RSM is diverse, supportive, and fosters personal and professional development.

In short: Anyone starting at RSM will find not only a great employer but also a workplace that values individual growth. I wouldn’t discourage anyone—in fact, I’d encourage them to join RSM.

Who are you outside of RSM?

Outside of RSM, my life can be best summed up in two words: sports and travel. Physical activity is an essential part of my daily routine. I regularly go to the gym, practice kickboxing, and spend a lot of time outdoors—whether it’s hiking or engaging in other outdoor activities . Sports are my element; they energize me and help me clear my mind.

In addition to sports, I love traveling. Together with my partner, I explore new countries and cultures as often as possible. Traveling opens up new perspectives and always brings inspiring experiences. These two aspects—sports and travel—create the perfect balance for me and enrich my life in many ways.
